We have been friends for 12 years. He is always there when things are bad. We have taken it to another level once before and he rocked my world!!!!!! I know that he feels the same about me. Just don't want to mess up the friendship with the emotions!?

Whats the worse that can happen? You can talk to him and see what happens... worse case if he doesn't want to start a relationship at least you will still have your friendship although it may be rocky for the next couple days/weeks, but I think it's would be worth the chance if the end result was that you ended up together with this guy.
