could be many things, coils, catalytic converter, bad wires

Hello there:
Try changing the air cleaner to see if that makes a difference. Make sure that your fan on your radiator is working (don't go by just because it's spinning).
It shouldn't die if it is hot because you would notice a pronounced shaking of the car before it dies. If it is that hot, watch you don't blow the engine!

That would be the fuel filter, or fuel pump. Try the filter first.
