I can't think of a price high enough. Someone would have to be holding a gun to my head, threatening to hurt all of my family and burn my house to the ground in order to persuade me to don those funny little leg-bells and prance about like a lunatic in public.

If I could dance like that I'd do it for the sheer pleasure of it.
I'd even take it up if only my name were Morris and I had a stick and a hanky and a pair of white trousers.
I'd have a car sticker made up - "Morris dancers do it on the village green" only I don't drive.
This is an excellent question by the way - probably the best I've ever been asked.

I have seen a few Morris dancers over the years and they seem to enjoy it . After the dancing they normally have a good sing song and get drunk, but its definitely not for me.

Shame on you. You should be proud to dress up and skip around in front of a faintly embarrassed public. The sheer crushing horror of being involved in this spectacle soon gives way to a liberating sense of exhilaration.

I think so anyway. But best drink half a bottle of scotch first.

You want PAYING to be a Morris dancer???? Seriously, I don't think payment comes into it for the dancers, but the local council might want paying for you to put on your performance. Best to check before you start waving your hanky!

A LOT. I think I'd do it for five minutes for £50, half an hour for £500! And yet some people do it for free. It takes all sorts to make a world I suppose!

Don't most Morris troupes do it as a hobby (no pun intended)? Are there any proffesionals?
