if u hav allergies, i cant help you. but if you dont maybe its because in the past your mum had did something wrong to the innocent hamster. maybe you should ask her why. or u wont get her answer.

first, you might ask her the reasons why she doesn't want you to have a hamster, maybe it's something you and your mom can compromise on. also, if it's a lack of responsibility thing, maybe you can earn the chance to show her you are responsible enough to take care of one.. you need to realize that this is just a guess because I've never ran into this problem. when I was young,(8) the first time I asked my mother if I could have a pet, other than the 12 horses we already had and who knows what else, was a water snake, (oh yuckie) but she said if I could pay for it and it's cage and supplies I could have one. I kinda knew that's the route she would go but.... I did my home work and set my battle plan before the question and I said OK and went off to work collecting pop bottles and pushing shopping buggies back into the store for Eddie Basha ( Basha's ) for nickle a cart, saved up the money and bought my first pet that was just MINE!! after my mom started watching it eat gold fish, she got interested in snakes and the next thing you know I had an 8 foot red tail boa with a boat load of critters of all kinds including her 13 Guiana pigs hope this helps :)

Ask her why she won't allow you to have one. It might be because she knows they need a lot of care and attention, and is worried that you might lose interest and neglect it. Its all very well saying 'Oh I promise to take care of it.' It's a whole different story when it comes to cleaning out smelly cages and droppings every week and changing water bottles every day and the smell it creates in your room. This isn't to put you off, it's to show how much work is involved. It's a common mistake that people think hamsters dont require a lot of attention. They absolutely DO. I have had 4 hamsters and yes they are lovely little things but they take up more time than you think. Your best bet is to go get as many books and information resources as possible and know your stuff on hamsters, how to care for them and all the rest. If your mum sees you are committed to looking after one then she might allow you to have one. But I warn you they do need a LOT of care and attention.

Ask her how you can prove you will be responsible enough to have one, or if there is some other reason.

I'd actually recommend a guinea pig over a hamster. They seem to be more tameable, and they are not likely to escape from their cages. Hamsters are incredible escape artists and get lost easily in the house.

Mabe she thinks she will get stuck taking care of it. I did that to my mom when I was a kid. I always swore I'd take care of my pets but she always ended up doing it. Try to show your mom that you are responsible enough to own a pet. Also, did you try asking her why you can't have a hamster? The reason could be something you didn't even think of.

Maybe she had a bad experience. Maybe she doesn't think you're responsible enough. Maybe SHE doesn't like hamsters....

I think you should ask HER.

Maybe she thinks that you're not able to take care of it, my friend. Maybe you could ask her why and listen to her reasons, if you don't agree..explain why you think YOU should have responsibility.
