I have those certifications, if you want to actually do well, you should get MCSE and CCNA certifications, MCSE being a compilation of certifications that microsoft recognises, and CCNA being about cisco networking. You might even want to get a background in setting up SQL and Oracle databases. However, you should know that it's not a good industry, the highest position you can get as an IT guy is system administrator. If it's what you like to do, then you should get enough background to make yourself distinct from the rest, and if you're talking about two IT certifications that every other IT guy is going to have and more, then you're not going to do very well. Get as much background as you can, in fact, I would reccomend you learn a number of programming languages so that you can make programs for the company's specific purposes, and to do regular network maintenance.

First you should know that you are not given jobs based on your certification. They will provide you with the training of what they want from you. Hence certificates are just for entering in to the company and are a mere waste once entered.

You could get a job at the customer service helpdesk at places such as Dell, Hewlett Packard, etc. I would suggest that you get as many certifications as possible, if you want to obtain a well-paying job, as the IT industry is quite subject to the shape of the economy.

I have both and two MCSE's and the work sucks. The market is saturated.
