I am in desperate need of some first-rate corny expressions to infuriate my self-proclaimed "cool" buddies with. PLEASE HELP!

Marko F - Thanks for your eloquent exposition - but I am afraid your suggestions, wonderful and articulate as they maybe, are a tad too "sophisticated" for my otherwise Barabra Streisand (Holy Yuck) adoring "friends" - they get bored WAY before they "grasp" the inherent corniness of those phrases. I mean, for crying out loud, look at their taste in music!!! :-)

And to answer your question: Perhaps because I am a "tedious old fool" and "to thine own self be true"? … Nonetheless, thank you for “accusing me” of having great depth and insight into my being and the minds of my friends! LOL

Misschatea – Hallelujah dear, I think for once I understood what you were telling me. :-)

'That's the way the cookie crumbles' - makes me grind my teeth every time I hear it, and I'm not even cool!

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man. "

William Shakespeare (1564-1616) English dramatist, playwright & poet

Then there's the ever useful Zen reply to know-it-alls,

"Step by step as you go,
The Way shall open unto you!"

With your female friends, of course, you might always try,

"Remember, ladies, a hard man is good to find."

Just have your running shoes on for that one.

That should keep you well supplied for the rest of your natural life and well into the next one. But why, pray tell, do you want to be, among your group of friends, the only or best Polonius?

lol

Bright as Alaska in December.

Fell out of the family tree.

Has two brains... one is lost and the other is out looking for it.

So dense, the light bends around him.

If he were any more stupid, he'd have to be watered twice a week.

Some drink from the fountain of knowledge, but he just gargled.

Takes an hour-and-a-half to watch "60 Minutes".

One burger short of a happy meal.

Want me to teach you more? :-D

When it comes to smart you're about a 3 watt, but his guy is a wet match in a dark cave.

Stupid enough?
