I need some insight, and serious answers, not people trying to get points, What would you do, if you were told that you ran the risk of having a hysterectomy, so it would be in your best bet to have a child now. Would you do it? If this was your only shot at motherhood? "Downside" being that your single, unmarried? Would you have a baby, (if you felt you could handle it), because this is your only shot at motherhood. And yes you could adopt, but for those that want a birth child, would you do it?

Honestly, I would do it as long as there would be no threat to the baby. You should carefully weigh all the pros and cons before you go ahead with your plans. Talk it over with your doctors and solidify their ideas of the risk of you having to have a hysterectomy. If it is safe for you, and safe for the baby, and you have everything financially and emotionally undercontrol out here, then I say go for it. It will be very difficult to go through a pregnancy with no significant other; be prepared for that! Talk to your family and friends and tell them that you will need their support.

I know this is a very hard decision, but you are the only person that can make the correct one. All we can do here is give you our opinions. I wish you the best of luck for whatever decision you make!

Well... I'm actually in a semi-similar situation.

I was born unable to bare children- may as well have had a hysterectomy at birth.... I never have been, never will be able to become pregnant, have my own children.

From my point of view, if I'd been given the opportunity- a one-time shot at being able to be pregnant, have a baby.... before I was married... I don't know if I'd have taken it.
As much as I've always wanted children, there are a lot of chalenges that come with being a parent, even more chalenges parenting ALONE. The experience of pregnancy and giving birth shouldn't be thought of as being about your experience- they're about the baby. Even after you've had your surgery, there will be a little one (or maybe not so little) who will need you for the next 20+ yrs....

This is a big decision, and I'm just telling you my feelings about the issue.... You need to make YOUR OWN choice, don't do something just because someone else thinks you should. Take the coments from all these answers, think about them, (yes, I'm Christian, don't mean to offend...) pray about this issue, weight the consequences of both options, pray again, and again if you have to...... then decide.

that is a very different question and a hard one. I would want to have a child knowing that I might not be able to have children again, just wanting to experice motherhood and giving birth. Because I think every women should experince bearing a child and motherhood once anyways. Though being single and unmarried is a tricky part. I wouldn't go find a guy to have a kid with though it's not fair to the guy. Maybe a close guy friend (without the sex thing) if your not into him in that way, but a donor.

I would do it.

I know some people look down on you for being unmarried but so what. I am unmarried and have two children. As long as you can provide for them and give them a good life then go for it.

Why do you need a man to raise a child. Most of the time men aren't all that involved anyways. Moms do most of the work.

If it was your only shot then I would do it as long as you can support it.

Im not sure any one could answer this question for you,but in my situation i had 2 children by the age of 20 and then had a hysterectomy at 21.I was married at the time but was divorced at age 24,leaving me to raise both children on my own.My youngest is now 19 and has given me the most beautiful grandson in the world. It was a pretty tough life at times, but it has been well worth it.Good luck with your decision and remember that every decision that you make in your life is one that you can live with forever.

wow that's a tough decision. i'm not sure what i would do. if you were not single or married then it wouldn't be as hard because you would have someone to make a child with. of course, i wouldn't just run out and find someone just so you could have a child. if it was me, i would probably just continue living life as normal and if i happen to get with someone and they were ready to have a child, then i would go from there but if i didn't get with someone before i could have a child then i guess i would just hope the doctors were wrong and hope for a miracle later on when i did find someone. i would not adopt because i would rather have a child that had the same qualities and physical features as me. not that i don't believe in helping out children who don't have parents.

I would have a baby. It doesn't take a mother and father to raise a child it takes love. Any baby brought into this world by a woman who would love them unconditionally is lucky. If your ready and know that your life would lack something if you didn't have a child of your own, I say go for it. I have two daughters and a son on the way, and would have another in a heartbeat if I was told I was going to need an operation that would make it impossible for me to have any more in the future.

With the support of your friends and family, it shouldn't matter whether you are married or not. Babies are a lot of work, but like another Yahoo Answerer pointed out, mommies do most of the work! So, if it were me and I was in your situation, I would definitely try to conceive. Adopting children is wonderful, and there is great joy in that.....but the act of bringing life into the world...no words can describe that feeling. Good luck to you!

Having a child of Ones own flesh & blood is great .... but being single & unmarried...??? how?? sperm bank?? any willing partners..?? I'm sure there's no shortage of that...But...??
Think & think again.... don't put Oneself in danger.

Like the Doc said there is a 'risk'.....and NOT all risks becomes a threat.

Now.... One's thoughts are centered on the only 'chance' of having One's own child....... in doing so , One's putting Oneself into GREATER RISKS!!

There are lots to really think about... not just having One's child now but the years after.................

Just be careful what you wish for...... once you see a bigger picture or once you're IN the picture , it may not be what you want or want for One's child , who was brought into this picture with all your love.

PLEASE take care....
regards

If you can financially and emotionally handle it- go for it. You will meet someone and get married when the time is right and you will find someone who will love you and your child. If it was my last chance I would do it. If you feel now is really not the right time then wait and adopt. It is a tough decision but don't beat yourself up over it. Really think about it, make your choice and stick with it- no regrets. Good Luck.
