How about painting those small pumpkins? A costume parade? Making any kind of craft project--the little ones can decorate a pre cut paper pumpkin with glitter, crayons, etc, and the bigger ones can make caramel apples--the wraps are kid safe but still fun...how about dunking for apples?

Try the classic peeling skin off of grapes and calling them eyes... or spaghetti for hair thing.Have the kids close their eyes, and make up a story to go along with it. Have lots of good music (The monster mash?) and maybe a craft or something. All kids are into crafty stuff. Of course, don't forget goodies, and have a costume party with a prizes for oddest costune... most original costume, best costume for the girls, and best costume for the boys. etc. Just have fun with it! Ya don't need a lot of money to make it good!

How about the old scarey story (car accident?) with props?
You remember....peeled grapes for eyes, cooked spaghetti for guts.....scarey story told in the dark with the 'props' being passed around as evidence?
Apple bob-done with the apple suspended on a string instead of floating in a tub.
Fill empty egg shells (raw bits blown out & then filled with confetti) colored orange for an egg race? or egg toss?
Water balloon toss at large cardboard halloween figure w/open mouth.
Instead of 'egg hunting' (like on easter) hide little bags of goodies and tie with a small light stick, play in the dark-twilight hours.
