Teen years are certainly a different time in our lives. We begin to drop the apron strings and start living more like an adult. When I was a teenager I wasn't much different from teens of today, think they know everything, and thought that I was brighter than Einstein himself. Drugs, booze and wild times are there for teens and have been for a long time. Poor teens of today though are expected to know what type of career they want to explore so early in high school. At least 35 years ago you didn't really have to have any plans for your career until around grade 11, now some kids are asked where they want to head in grades 8 and 9. That's BS in my opinion as who knows what they want to be at that tender an age for sure. Today's teens are also expected by society to be so much more mature and/or sexually active and aware then previous generations. So sorry for reminiscing but as far as your question goes teenager years are indeed suppose to be the best years of your life and I agree with this as it is when you will find your best friends, learn the most of the world around you and begin to separate a bit as far as becoming a Young adult. With all the bullying today though for many teens it must seem like the worst time of their lives. But as they age they will end up the winners as I have often heard "be nice to the nerds as some day they will be your boss". Hope that I answered your question and not just blabbered on.

They can be the best years of your life just as long as you make the right decisions. Yeah they are going to be alittle ruff because those are the years that you are barely learning about life and what it can do to you. The best thing to do is accept any challenging thing that comes your way and make the best of it even if you dont see anything good at that time. And then you learn from your mistakes. The teen years are for learning, making mistakes and LEARNING FROM THEM. That way when it is time for you to be a grown up, you kind of have an idea of what to do with yourself instead of wasting it down the drain.

I don't actually like being a teenager but my biggest fear is growing up. What a contradiction! You have to deal with the stress that noone else understands as a teen. And as an adult you have to deal with bills and they say you don't understand what's going on. So I guess you're not understood no matter what.
Every age sucks. Unless you're a happy little 4 year old, care-free

I do agree and not only for the teen . The hormones are going wild and everyone in your path is effected . Most teens are only concerned about themselves so they have no idea what others are putting up with !

Yes. Being a teenager is awful. Everyone knows what you ought to think, let alone do, and nobody gives a damn for what you actually want. Keep your head down and try to get to university by the age of twenty: it's much better there.

I wouldn't go back to being a teenager for anthing in the world. It was the most difficult time of my life. The way things are now would just make it worse.. There are to many things out there now that I wouldn't want to deal with. I am perfectly happy being the 42 yer old me I am now. Thanks.

It's what you make of it. What I wish I knew then is this. All of the people who gave me a hard time then had huge problems themselves. And all of the people I looked up to were really not all that deserving of the admiration. And that they all had no real influence on my life now.

My Teen years were interesting, to say the least...but it does get better. Enjoy what you can, and you will be able to look back one day and go "Whew" I made it out of that one. Good Luck.
