Yes,and destroyed Afghanistan and Pakistan for ever to come.Today there are over 5 million heroin addicts in both countries not to talk about India.But it made some people awfully Rich.

Thats a very simplified version, but in a way yes. They used money that was obtained from interupted drug deals to fund some of the weapons given to the Northern Alliance in Affghanistan. There was all sorts of crazy deals going on over there. Read the book Ghost Wars by Steve Coll.

I think a better word would be assisted in the war, and they may have used drug money.
