Oh yes, I am afraid it is normal. I bled for 2 months. Of course I was still seeing my doctor, so he was aware and said it was normal. Some women bleed more than others.

Well I think the first few periods are really bizarre to be honest. I am 8 weeks postpartum and I bled the first 3 or 4 weeks then it stopped, then at 6 1/2 weeks postpartum I started my "period" and it has been going strong ever since. I would give it a few more weeks and if it isn't stopping call your gyno and ask about it :) I know it is a crappy deal but you aren't alone!

Hi! Don't stress out about this too much. It's normal to bleed off and on for the first 6-8 weeks after delivery. I know it isn't very pleasant but your body is just cleansing itself. Make sure to take vitamins and get enough iron for heavy bleeding. Try to rest as much as possible and avoid sex until it stops and you have bc lined up. Also avoid taking baths and take showers instead. Use a heating pad and ask your doctor about prescribing/recommending some pain reliever if you are nursing. Good luck to you and give it time. Your body is healing itself because you have just endured a lot of physical changes from delivery.

With my first child I bled for 6 weeks. I just had my second child 2 weeks ago and it seems to change from hour to hour. One minute there will be nothing and the next a whole lot. I would not worry too much about it. Also make sure that you rest if you start bleeding heavy. If you do to much to soon it will prolong your bleeding also.

My first period after I gave birth was long and heavy and my cramping was the worst it has ever been. My 2nd period was kinda weird too but not as bad. It's been 4 months now and they are back to the way they use to be. I think its normal. Your body has to adjust and get use to not being pregnant anymore!
good luck and congrats on your new baby!

For my first post-partum I bled heavily for two months. My uterus had problems contracting back to its normal size. I became anemic and had to take extra iron. Just call your doctor and make them aware of what is going on. They may want you to come in and check you out.
I don't think you have had a period. I think your bleeding is still part of post-partum.

by this time you should have been back to you Gyn doc for your follow-up. if not make an appointment now. your bleeding does seem a little excessive, if nothing else call and talk to the nurse practitioner at the doc office, they can advise you on whether or not you need to be seen and if so how quickly.
