If you have the talent, education, and resources to do something important, does that mean you should?

For instance, if you knew with relative certainty that you could be the researcher who cures cancer, or the president who facilitates great international peace, or the writer who authors the greatest novel of the century, does that create a moral obligation or duty to do so?

Ethically you are. Legally your not.

No you are not obligated to use it, but 99% of the time people who have talent usually uses it. Besides it would be your family that pushes you to the limit to use your talent. If it is for a good cause why wouldn't you want to help people survive cancer? Or have the cure for aids? If you didnt i wouldn't judge you because i am not god.

I think the inspiration has to come from within. You can also help people on a smaller scale. If you expertise and you can help people in need. why not use it. what other reward is there to know you helped someone. I can't think of one.
