Right now I have a Pentium 4 proccesor doing 2.9ghz & 2.8ghz, with 1GB of ram. The thing is this, I have two 256mb DDR @ 333mhz and two 256@133mb DDR to make that 1GB of RAM. Was I better off with the original 512RAM@ 333? I checked my CMOS and my memory clock speed said it was 266mhz

definitely is better to have 512 running at 333MHZ you know that memory will not go up it will actually go down to the smallest number so it is 133MHz that is the bus speed why? because 133MHz memory cannot go higher anymore but 333MHz can go lower ,therefor the system will level all memory to a safe and stable number.
so in fact your system is slowing down your 512 mb 333MHz memory to allow the 512 133MHz memory to work properly.
so in fact you are using 1024 MB of RAM at 133MHz bus speed
not bad but i would try to get another pair of 512MB 333MHz.

good luck

and may the force be with you

The memory speed cannot run faster than the matherboard clock.

Although you install memory with 333mhz, it will run at 256mhz.

Hi!

Not necessarily! If your application require a LOT of RAM, then this is the way to go. But, if your applications require fair amounts of RAM, then... I suggest you remove the slow ones from your machine since they are slowing your machine down.

Cheers!
