I frequently crack the bones on my back by pulling on the skin on my back, or having someone press down firmly until it cracks. it feels really good, however I wonder if it is not harmful to my bones or back, or whatever? I appreciate your feedback

the popping sound is from small gas pockets that have built up, and over time you can end up with arthritis

I cracked my back multiple times daily until I started seeing a chiropractor. He said that it can cause tissue damage if done for a long time. When he cracks my back its done differently than the simple compression and release we might do to ourselves. I wouldn't recommend doing it too much, but you also don't HAVE to go see a chiropractor either. Especially avoid doing it if you have a family history of back pain or trouble.

I do the same thing

it releases air bubbles that are in your joint
that release releases stress
however because its your back, the awkward position you put yourself in can pinch a nerve

also this can cause arthritis

i really hope this helps

i do the same ...i dont think its any more harmful to do it on purpose than accident and think about how many times you do it in your sleep or just stretching
