OK I wasn't sure where to ask this question, but everyone on all the parenting boards are very helpful :)

So I just had my baby 8 weeks ago and started on the patch and now I am hearing about even young women dying from blood clots caused by the estragen in the patch. It apparently has 60% more estragen than the pill. What do you know about this and is it serious enough that I should stop using them now, or can I at least use the ones I have before I switch?

So...you have a chance of getting pregnant or dying. Personally, I'd rather die than get pregnant right now...but it sounds like you might want to look into the pill...or the pull-out method like me :-)

The patch, for me, was horrible...personally if i were you i would stop and find another type of bc that can work...not one bc option is 100% safe, they all have side effects and so forth..i cant do the whole pill thing so i went for the depo shot..it works great..i get it done once every 3 mths...and i never have to worry about missing a pill, forgetting to put on a patch or put in a ring...

I wouldn't take the patch. I have seen and read the reports on it for at least a year now. My ob/gyn doesn't prescribe it anymore. If you want to take something that you don't have to mess with very often.. then try nuva ring. You put it in once a month!

its suppose to be worse
my health department dont even carry it because of the high risk of blood clots
i take ortho cyclen and it has risks to like any birth control pill
but pills are suppose to be a little safer!

i heard no birthcontrol patches are safe at all...its even on commercials from attorneys saying they can get you a case if you wore the patch and had medical problems...
