To have a site with a shopping cart is complex. I suggest using the paypal shopping cart account. Once you've signed up for the free account you can use there buttons on your website to have customers purchase your product online. Really to build your own is difficult if you have no coding experience. Especially if you are going to have the guides to be downloaded from your site. I can maybe help you a bit, email me if your interested, pippy4tao@yahoo.ca

What about using a cheaper web developer?

Like me :-)

Download and install Joomla on your webserver. Once you upload and configure it, you can pretty much do anything you want to do with it. Plus there is so much support out there for it that you can find almost anything you need.

My company actually does a customized joomla site for our clients for only $300 with hosting, domain registration and updates for a year. Send me an email if you have any questions though.

Hope this helps

depends on how simple the site is going to be,

you could probably do it yourself, as there are so many easy to use shopping cart programs out there

Go to yahoo geocities.
(Well you don't actually download any program, but you set a website for free)

As previously stated, NVU is both free and excellent.

Try using NVU...it's a free WYSIWYG editor (like Dreamweaver or Frontpage).

It's sharepoint designer 2007 beta 2. It works great and now that it is still beta, it's only $1.50 to download.
