the absolute best time of my life was when i met this guy in the college bookstore. we dated for 4 months before he invited me to his hometown...Nigeria, Africa!!. i had hardly left California before..so i was totally excited. he helped me get my passport and visa. i was terrified of planes..and also that i would catch a disease, but when we finally arrived to Nigeria in the spring of 2005.....i was totally shocked. the culture was absolutely divine and the food? OMG!! i was warned not to eat local food by the usa....but it was too good to resist. the people there treated me like a queen. i woke every morning with food on the table...and they never let me help to clean. the beaches were mindblowing, with wite sand and crashing waves. we rode horses on the beach for $2..and that gave us the chance to do it more than once...it was so cheap. at night we went to an island to go to a club...the music was a mix or reggae and r&b...and some pop too. it was perfect. everyone there thought i was rich....being only 22 years old..but i was so broke there! i was well taken care of, even when i didnt have much money left...because i had spent it on buying things to take home. i met my boyfriends family...and went to see where he grew up and went to school...i even bought a pet monkey in a village market for $60..lol. i named him Abu-boo. i took care of him while i was there for one month..and i left him with my boyfriends best friend in nigeria, since i could not bring him to the states. this trip was wonderful..i fell in love with Africa..and i am now in the process of buying a home there. i also fell in love with my boyfriend and we r now planning our wedding... he recently proposed. all the fears and negative thoughts i had about africa..was because of the view america showed us: the poverty, death, disease. those are real things that happen in some countries in Africa, but my experience was nothing of the sort. i just saw that we american people need to get out more because the world is so much bigger than the usa. and so much more beautiful.

Winter of 1992~I was about 5 weeks pregnant and I traveled with my fiance (now husband)from San Diego to Albama and then to Cleveland by pick-up truck to see his dying grandfather. Along the way, we saw every raw emotion and truth about eachother and we even got married along the way. It was the best time because we were so crazy for eachother and nothing seemed to matter. Now, we have been married 14 years and it's still the best!
