My baby is 6 1/2 weeks old. We switched to Gentlease (from Enfamil Lipil with Iron) to help ease the gas. My baby has gas that often makes her have fits. (I use gas drops and Dr. Brown bottles both seem to slightly help.) We tried Gentlease for about 5 days. Things seemed to be getting better, but then got worse again. I feel like maybe I should have just stuck with is longer. I switched to soy though. We had some hard times with that too. Overall (now) things seemed to be about the same as they were with Gentlease (or maybe slightly worse as far as how much gas she has). I do notice that she spits up more with Prosobee (soy) and burps easier. The "fits" seemed to have reduced overall, but she still has the gas. I really feel that it wakes her up at night. She only sleeps 2 or 3 hours at a time and usually wakes up trying to fart. Should I stick with Prosobee or go back to Gentlease? (The ONE time that she slept for 5 1/2 hours at night was when she was on Gentlease??)

stick with one formula and give it more time her tummy has to get use to it and burp her more often like after every ounce and call the doctor never switch formulas without talking to the doctor first.

I went through that with my daughter when she was about 3 month old. I tried EVERY formula on the market. The problem was she had tastebuds by that time and rejected everything. I couldn't blame her because the really refined formulas taste like vomit.
I thought the formula was the issue with my daughter, thus all the changing. Ultimately, I went back to her original formula and then we found that she had Reflux.
The doctor put her on baby Zantac and she was better. She still screamed because of colic, but at least the gas lessened a little.
Best of luck. It's tough.

You could also try Gripe Water. I have a 5 week old and it works wonders for his gas. He is also on Gentlease (switched from Good Start).

I think you should try Similac Alimentum...my pediatrician recommended it for our little girl b/c she was having the same problem...she would get so gassy she would get all stiff and cry and cry, it broke my heart. You are doing great using the gas drops and Dr. Brown bottles they really are the best but Alimentum is what really made the difference for us. It is expensive but well worth it if it helps. If you decide to try it give it at least a week, two is even better to see the best results. Good luck and I hope your baby gets some relief soon!

My little girl was in the exact same boat. We couldn't give her anything that would keep her food down. She is approaching 5 months now, and is just starting to keep her bottle down better.

We tried so many different formulas, and settled on Gentleease...not because it helped so much, just because we were tired of switching.

Our doctor told us that this is a fairly common problem. He assured us as long as our baby girl was gaining weight, we did not have to much to worry about. Attached are a few websites that explain the situation a little better.

Our baby girl is now in the 25th percentile, and looking really good.

Have you tried breastfeeding?

STOP changing formulas and check with your child's doctor. it might not be the formulas, she could be lactose intolerant or just not be able to stomach cow's milk, hubby had the same problem as a baby, had to drink a goat's milk formula because the cow based formulas had everyone thinking he had colic. he had tons of gas ans spit on more often than considered normal.

your doctor should be the only one to change an infant's formula, otherwise you child could become dehydrated and malnourished without you even realizing it. follow your doc instructions and don't cause your baby any more problems,

I would stick with the soy but the soy tends to constipation so my kid's Dr always told me to put a little clear Karo syrup in their bottle about a table spoon full to help relieve the constipation and gas

My daughter was on soy formula and then switched to gentlease she was so much better off.
Switch back- gentlease worked wonders for us.

i would go with which ever one you feel she is doing better on. sounds to me like that one would be soy. as far as sleeping better on gentlease, it may have just been a good night for her not necessarily because of the formula

Check with you grocery store, but to me it sounds like your baby has colic. There are things you can do to ease the gas (it sounds like you are doing a good job of that) but see if you can find formula t help with colic. I think it's made by Infamil, but I'm not sure. Ask your Pediatrician, they should know. You might have to go to a larger store, one with a larger selection of formula. My son had colic for about four months, nothing we did seemed to help. Some times they just need to out grow it. GOOD LUCK!!!!
