One answer: He's a ********. A jerk , a complete asshole. One that needs to be kicked off the side of the earth. I hope you find someone better than an jerk that will keep that from you.
But if you just like him and you never talked to him about having a g/f then you would have no idea. I mean it all depends on the situation. You didn't specify well enough.
Guys at times can be jerks, but women come to experience those kind of guys on a day to day basis

Two possible answers:
1) He didn't want to make it seem like you were hitting on him. If you had just said, "hi" and then he said, "Stop! I have a girlfriend" you would be like, "whoa, relax, I wasn't hitting on you." In this instance he'd probably wait to know you better before telling you he has a girlfriend, because it wasn't important to the relationship you guys had at the time. In this instance, you shouldn't mind.
However, if the situation is different (and it likely is), and he knew you liked him or there was something going on with you guys... he didn't want to tell you because he wanted to get some. End of story on that.

they don't tell you because neither of you mean anything to them. The gf they have is merely a convenience. It's either an ego thing with them or has to do with never having deep feelings, for anyone, even family. Avoid those guys like the plague.

Because they think their slick and think they can have both you and their girl. Or they think that's private and you don't need to know. There can be alot of reasons maybe he's scared, who knows. Confront him or be out of the loop ask around ?

It's because he doesn't like her...or you. Boys are jerks. If he doesn't say anything it's because he wants to cheat and once a cheater always a cheater.

If he's sleeping with you and didn't tell you, he's a jerk...
If he's just trying to get to know you and you're getting all bent about him not telling you he has a girlfriend..... well, in that case he's not the jerk....

because theyre stupid and idiotic and think that as soon as they tell you, even though it's true, that you'll stop trying to flirt/kiss/whatever with him. theyre basically players

i think they fear rejection since most girls will not allow to be your girlfreind if you already have another one
