I take a multi vitamin/mineral/antioxidant formula. It is in LIQUID form, rather than in tablets. This way my body doesn't have to digest the pills, since the liquid goes directly to your cells, which is where all nutrition should finally get to. You mix one ounce daily with any juice at breakfast time. I have been taking this formula since May 2006 and haven't gotten sick since! It has helped me lose some weight (actually 20 pounds to be exact) since it activates and give you more energy. I buy them through the internet and they do have a formula for teenagers called VIBE Jr.
You can check out their website for nutritional value information which is:
http://www.enivaquality.com
and you can purchase a 32 ounce bottle at their website:

The problem with vitamins in tablets is that your body has to digest them, and it has been proven that your body only digests about 10% of the tablet and sends the rest to be expulsed. If you ask me, my best advice is LIQUID vitamins. They really do work...

I take a multi vitamin rich in Iron because I don't eat much meat or green veges. I do notice a difference in my stamina when I don't take them. That said they're not a miracle cure, you still need to try to eat properly and get a bit of excercise in.

I'm no doctor yet. but I can tell you from my knowledge in the biological sciences that yes taking the multivitamin will help you if you are deficient in vitamins but I should also tell you that the multivitamin would most likely not prevent the consequences of your poor diet choices. But its not going to make it worse so go ahead and take it everyday :)

Americans don't eat as healthily as we should and sometimes it's good to make sure we're getting the amounts we need.
Nobody gets scurvy in the US anymore but that doesn't mean we're getting as much as we're supposed to. Many chronic illnesses later in life (osteoporosis, certain organ problems) are partly caused by slight deficiencies throughout life that accumulate in old age. It's good to make sure.

I take vit e, iron and calcium.
But you eliminate so much of what you take in, you're better off eating sources of the vitamins instead.
