Lots of people say that once you get one, you want more. Do you think it's the pain that's addictive or the decorating your body? I have one tatoo and want more, but I want more because I have more ideas of ones I want. If I didn't know what I wanted I wouldn't go back. Granted, the pain was kind of cool and I love having it, decorating my body and all. What do you think?

yes, tattoos are addictive. it's not the pain per se. for me it's the decorating my body and the ideas as you said. i agree with all that you said except the pain being kind of cool..that is just a grin and bear it...i could do without...what is cool about it is that i can take...you know be that tough.

I got my first tattoo in June of this year, it has both of my kids names in it. I got it on my lower back. I thought it was going to be painful but it wasn't. In July I decided that I wanted one with my grandaughter's name on it, so I had it put on my ankle. About a month later I had a design put the rest of the way around my ankle. Then this month I had another line added under the first one. It looks like I have an ankle bracelet on. So the answer is yes, they are addicting and I LOVE the way they feel while I am getting them. I have people ask why I wanted them and I tell them that since I am far away from my family it is a way of having them with me all the time. I don't care what anyone says about me having them either, it is my body and I will do with it what I want. It is my way of expressing myself. As of right now I am not planning on getting another one but eventually I want to add on to the one on my back.

No - not for everyone. It's like anything else - some can have a beer or two - others can't stop. Others can take a pain pill if they are having pain - others take them all the time for kicks....addiction is additiction...not everyone is addicted to the same thing. I know people with one single tattoo or two that they've had all their lives and never got more. I know others that seem to not be able to stop.

Some people do that stuff. However, I'm not the kind to let someone permanently decorate my body. Plus I'm not into needles. I get nervous enough just to have my flu shot.

Everyone has different views but for me, it was addictive. Not the pain factor but to see my beautiful artwork finished and to be able to display it proudly. I currently have 10 and will be getting more.

I think maybe they can be addictive just from that surge of adreneline you get when you get one. Some people are addicted to that feeling, thus making them want to go back time after time.

I personally think the experience is the addictive part. I am now getting tattos removed and let me tell you that is not a great experience. It hurts and the smell of your flesh burning is not nice.
