I will concede the Republican scandal regarding Foley was bad and will be worse if a cover-up actually occured. I say if because I believe in innocent until proved guilty and am willing to wait for the completion of the investigation before passing final judgement. However, liberals aren't and have tried to smear all Republicans with the same brush even though most Republicans have condemned Foley and will demand resignations of others if there was a cover-up.
Now we have a scandal involving ethics violations by Harry Reid and not a word from liberals. If is mentioned they ignore it and fallback on attacking Republicans for Foley and other scandals. The fact that this is a hypocrisy doesn't phase them a bit and this behavior is not new. Anytime a liberal is caught in something bad it is ignored by the left, passed off as minor and overblown, or labeled a Republican attack strategy. Am I wrong on this question? If so post a well thought out answer of why.
Please try to keep it civil.

Ronin: I have not said Reid is guilty of anything. I am willing to wait for the outcome of an ethics hearing before passing judgement. There should be an investigation though. How many times have liberals posted all Republicans are pedophiles and the leadership should resign. Nice try it doesn't wash, just another attempt to give a Democrat a pass from judgement, just because he says he didn't do anything wrong.

Wassana L: I absolutely agree, you are a hypocrit. Did you even read what you wrote. Republicans are pedophiles and not one word addressing the actual question.

doodahbagel: I use liberals because I am specifically referring to the far left. I know many mainstream Democrats who do not fit this mold at all and I respect their opinions a great deal.

TAT2ME1960:First off I am not a Republican.
Second I am talking people not politicians. The politicians are a lost cause on both sides.
Third I am not talking about all Democrats but rather the far left. If you want to make an issue of the far right being as bad I can accept that.
Fourth thank you for proving my point so aptly. Rather than try to convince me that liberals do hold their own to a standard in wrong doing by illustrating examples of such, you chose instead to defend Clinton, attack the Republicans in general, and make broad associations about my character and party affiliations.

Do You See What Happens Larry?: If the words were we need an investigation to know the truth and if found in violation the man should resign. I would absolutely listen, but I am not holding my breath waiting for those words.

ITS CALLED TUNNEL VISION. THEY CAN'T OR DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO SEE THEIR FAULTS.

You are right on with your statement. The Democrats have no plans or ideas to express and therefore they are left with only one strategy: ATTACK. You can see and hear this on TV and radio over and over. A Republican, when asked a question will give the best answer he can. A Democrat will sidestep the question and then ATTACK. He will never argue the issues honestly.

Democrats cannot argue the issues because they know if they express theiir true beliefs, the voters will reject them by the millions.

I would like to see the Republicans take the gloves off and and start giving the Dems a taste of their own medicine.

Hilarious, if it had been a reality and no longer twisted reasoning. No subject the way you attempt to twist matters, executive intrusion is a burden at the financial system leading to a cut back cost of employment which harms the poorest probably the most. Increased taxation additionally continually harms the deficient and dealing categories probably the most. In brief, the deficient are lied to and made to feel that they're being helped while actually they're being repressed and used to shop for votes and vigor. The liberals are a merciless and cynical bunch

"Last week, a highly misleading report by the Associated Press implied that I made a profit selling land I no longer owned. That article was wrong. Here are the facts: I bought the land in 1998, I sold it in 2004, and I listed my ownership of the land on official Senate disclosure forms every single year. "

I beg to differ.

I remember VERY CLEARLY how you folks HOUNDED Clinton, for years, and without end. You STILL do. All he did was cheat on his wife, then lie about it. Who wouldn't?

Meanwhile, your party has been virtually taken over by PNAC, Bush broke 26 of our laws spying on American citizens, broke international law going into Iraq under false pretense (or rather a SERIES of false pretenses), uses signing statements to nullify legislations of Congress (which is a total breakdown of democracy), and he has thoroughly raped our Constitution rendering our Bill of Rights virtually meaningless. I don't hear any of you owning up to THAT. I'd be much happier if he'd just go cheat on his wife!

You need to differentiate between the politicians and us voters. WE are not happy with the Democratic party, either. Like many Republicans, most of them are selling us out to the PNAC folks currently sitting in our nation's top seats. They're all bowing down to the PNAC power group, scared that standing up to them will ruin their own political career.

Your party loyalty is misplaced, and incredibly naive. The current Rep's VS Dem's dichotomy is totally artificial. PNAC wants us at eachother's throats so we don't pay attention to them. This administration is NOT Republican...it's PNAC.

According to PNAC's website, they want the United States, by way of economic and military force, to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new socio-economic Pax Americana. The New World Order.

When Bush assumed the Presidency, the men who created and nurtured the world domination schemes of PNAC became the men who run the Pentagon, the Defense Department and the White House. On September 11th, when the Towers came down, these men saw their chance to turn their White Papers into substantive policy. On September 20th 2001, Bush released the "National Security Strategy of the United States of America." It is an ideological match to PNAC's "Rebuilding America's Defenses" report issued exactly a year earlier.

Vice President Dick Cheney is a founding member of PNAC, along with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Defense Policy Board chairman Richard Perle. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz is the ideological father of the group. Bruce Jackson, a PNAC director, served as a Pentagon official for Ronald Reagan before leaving government service to take a leading position with the weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin. William Kristol, famed conservative writer for the Weekly Standard, is also a co-founder of the group. The Weekly Standard is owned by Ruppert Murdoch, who also owns international media giant Fox News.

The problem with you folks is that you suck up the propaganda, then swear by it. Apparently you're easy to sway with false logic. We, however, investigate. We don't take EITHER side at it's word, and make the effort to find the truth...not swear by our politicians lies. If your so incredibly loyal to your (usurped) party, don't bother to kid yourself into believing you have ANY loyalty left for your COUNTRY.

Wake up and smell the coffee: the entire game has changed.

The anwswer to your question is very easy. Liberals have little to no moral standards themselves, so when they are caught, it blows away with the wind. When conservatives are caught, you betcha it's a big deal, a BIG FAT POLITICAL one! The actual moral or ethical part of it is nearly non-existent.

In the case of gay pedophiles in the Republican Party (the gay-bashing party of self-righteous "family values") the irony is just too delicious to pass up!

It's kind of like Bush and the rest of the administration draft dodgers wrapping themselves in the flag and sending boys off to die in Iraq.

In short, it is summed up in one word: hypocrisy!

I think it's very telling that you use "Liberals condemning Republicans" instead of "Democrats condemning Republicans" or "Liberals condemning Conservatives".
Tell me, If you did hear a word about the Reid affair from "Liberals" would you listen to it?

Wrong is wrong.

It is still basically a violation of the public trust. Reid must face the music as well

The same reason the repubs can't. Political stand offs never admit to mistakes. We all should be grown up enough to know this.
