The physical history is contained in the property abstract that is part of the mortgage documents obtained from the bank. If not, the county tax assessor office usually can direct you where to find the abstract in the county files. It won't provide historical information about the residents of the house, only the physical land.

Try City Hall. If that is incorrect they'll direct you to the government building that has the records. Also ask a Real Estate person.

Check with the county courthouse to see if they have a copy of the abstracts for the property. If so, these will provide you with the history you seek.

This is the first time that I answer the USA questions in yahoo.

Start at the court house, get the names of all of the previous owners.

you just go to your village officer or go to your district collector office and collect it if your house in India. otherwise en quire your neighbors , those who were living in your area, they will tell u.
