C'mon Aaron. First, congratulations on taking the single biggest and most important step in saving your own health. Never go back.
The lungs are made up of some of the fastest healing tissue in the body (also the eye tissue). I have read from the Lung Association or Heart Association that changes in the lungs occur almost immediately after you quit. The little finger-like things that clean the air come back to life, etc., etc.. etc. They even have a timetable of positive changes that occur in the body like heart rate and BP returning to normal.
Anyway, I suggest you simply begin an exercise program such as walking for an hour a day. This will increase your heart rate, burn some fat, while exercising your lungs with faster and deeper breathing. GOOD LUCK

Try Bikram Yoga.
The poses will move things about in you chest and the breathing exercises with help clear you lungs out. Also, the systemic effects will help you clear out the rest of your system and help you keep from wanting to start smoking again.

go for brisk walking outside everyday ....fresh air , and exciting your cardiopulmonary system is what will do it. I quit smoking and it took about 3 months for my lungs to clear out ....one day I was walking up stairs and noticed hey i am not out of breath and did it over again out of amazement because i use an inhaler. You will be surprised at how much more you can physically do without tiring.

YOU HAVE TO GIVE YOUR LUNGS TIME. THEY WILL CLEAR UP THEMSELVES. IT WILL TAKE A YEAR TO 5 TO CLEAR UP ALL THE WAY. JUST EXCERCISE AND EAT HEALTHY AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER AND YOUR BODY WILL LOVE YOU FOR THAT
