Generally speaking, most chips are backwards compatible. If you can locate the manufacturer and part number on the chip, you can go to that manufacturer's web site and look up the part number. Or contact the manufacturer for specific compatibility for your computer.

Yes they can give you an answer, PC2700 IS backwards compatible with PC2100. Alot of times PC2700 will even be sold as PC2700/PC2100.

Check your Motherboard manual..No one can give you a definte answer without knowing EXACTLY what motherboard you have.
