Let's say the time from midnight to now is x. That also means that x is the present time (assuming 24-hour time notation).

That means the time from now until midnight is 24-x, since there are 24 hours from one midnight to the next.

So, what you have is:

1/4 * x + 1/2 * (24-x) = x
x/4 + 12 - x/2 = x

Multiply through by 4...

4*(x/4) + 4*12 - 4*(x/2) = 4*x
x + 48 - 2x = 4x
48 = 4x + 2x - x
48 = 5x
x = 48/5 = 9.6 hours = 9 hours, 36 minutes

So, the present time is 9:36 in the morning.

Assuming the fact that you are in the US and the time difference between India & the US is 10:30

Now

1/4 of the time from midnight = 3 a.m.
1/2 of the time from now to midnight = 6 hours 45 min

Adding the above two,

The time will be 3 + 6:45 = 9:45 a.m
