Although I think it depends on the individual, some females may have been exposed to more sporting events as a younger person, which might've given them that interest into adulthood.
Also, I think that the fact that professional sports did not include games with women playing for a very long time has had a huge impact.

this is kinda complex,
to be honest with you, I love sports, but that's because I'm strong and well coordinated. I have friends who cant do it, and they are mostly the waif thin , I dont work out, types.
But it really depends on the woman, some really feel its not feminine to do sports, me personally, I never bought into the feminine bit because it also has alot to do with why we are underpaid, underrepresented in top notch jobs and have other limitations on us.
I know women who do rugby, lifting and basketball. I know ladies that sit around and play trivia. It all depends on the lady.
but I can say most girls are into being physical for the sake of keeping thier shapes, not much more.

Well I enjoy sports. I think it just depends on the individual. I played some sports in high school so I understand it more than most girls do. Those women who have no sports experience just don't understand the intricacies of the game. Anyways I think women's interest has grown from before.

you asked us two questions (we should get 4 points for answering). Women are as interested in sports as men, just that they have different sports and in most cases they don't compete against men, they compete against other women.
Why don't they have a cheering section? Because scantily clad women always cheered for men for other reasons than just cheering. And if scantily clad women cheered for women they would be called lesbians.

I'm actually more interested in sports than some men I know. My ex used to complain about me watching the Football games and baseball games. I used to laugh about the sterotypical role reversal.

it's probably the same reason men arent interested in soap operas and chick flicks. men like action and comptetition while women like drama and emotion. men hate dealing with their feelings and lots of talking while women hate watching people perform without all the emotional drama so they can feel something. however, it depends on the person because i particularly like a balance of both.
bad for women:
sexy cheerleaders/dancers with unrealistic bodies on the sidelines making the guys drool
good looking men with massive bodies, talent, and money we'll never have as we watch the loser guy we've settled for continue to drool over the cheerleaders/dancers
you ignore us for hours until the game is over as if it's more important than us, while we have to record our shows for later to cater to you and the kids
bad for men:
good looking men with tons of charm that know how to be in touch with their feelings without sacrificing all their masculinty and the ability to make everything better in one episode/scene
they can make us cry tears of joy while wishing you could do that
you have to accept that we fantasize about those men knowing you'll never match up the way we wont with the cheerleaders/dancers
and again, it involves feelings and lots of talking which we know is a challenge men would rather avoid as much as possible

Because the ones interested in sports are the ones who are playing them, silly! They're not just gonna sit on the sidelines, they're gonna get in on the action!

I don't think its all THAT rare.
But sports are to men as music is to women, IMO. You don't see guys fainting at concerts, and you don't have women painting their bodies blue and screaming drunk at football games (generally).

I like watching sports..... I like watching football, and My husband and I have season tickets to the Louisville Cardinals basketball games. It really differs for every women. It depends on how much the women has on her plate.... if she has time to relax, then sprts is a cool thing to get into. I use to not like them until I got together with my husband. He watched them constantly, and when I started watching them with him, you get addicted!
