benefits of LCD
1. resolution of LCD monitors are higher. meaning more detailed, smoother images.
2. power consumption - a CRT (conventional) monitor can use up to 3 times more electricity.
3. Response time (important for gamers) LCDs are now faster than CRTs
4. Heat generation (CRT much hotter) extensive use can cause burn-out
5. LCDs have much less radiation (if any) than CRTs, which over prolong use, increases the chances of cancer.
6. LCDs dont flicker but produce a constant image. CRTs flicker rapidly, just that we cant see it flicker, but its not good for our eyes.
7. LCDs are able to produce pricisely-natural colours that are easy on the eyes.
8. Many configerations of LCD monitors
9. LCDs support the high quality imagery through DVI connection.
10. Light weight and space-saving

CRT are better, because the radiation is lower, and they bugg less. You should buy CRT 17'' or 19'' flat, don't forget FLAT.
LCD are more expensive because the system of hardware inside is smaller and more expensive, LCD lasts in normal conditions 3-5 years without buggs, CRT lasts arround 5 years without buggs.

Its not worthy to buy a LCD,it has shorter life span and also only a person who sits exactly straight (face to face) can view the items displayed properly.
CRT is the best

LCDs are fantastic... if you get the right one for what you want to do with it. If you do a lot of gaming especially FPS type games get one with a fast refresh time.
Viewsonic makes great LCDs. Get the biggest one you can afford. 19" is a great size definitely worth the extra cost.
