Of the over 100 babies that are abandoned each year in Texas, about 16 will be found dead. An unknown number of murdered babies are never found. There is a solution. A Texas law provides a responsible alternative to mothers who might otherwise abandon, harm or murder a newborn child. It states that a parent may leave an unharmed infant, up to 60 days old, at any hospital or fire station with “no questions asked.” This law is nicknamed "The Baby Moses Law" from the ancient story of baby Moses who was abandoned, but was saved and grew to become an important person.

Wow, I didn't stop to think that others might not be familiar with this law. Sorry about that. Just think if your state does not pratice this type of law what does one do? I just wondered if anyone has heard if this law is working? We always hear the bad but what about the good? What do you think about this law?

Any law made with the intent to save a childs life is a good law.
You can't expect it to address every aspect of abandonment. Not if you are offering annoymnimity anyway.

I would rather a child arrive safe and alive than to require a parent to leave details and risk the death of that chld because the parent was too afraid or ashamed to submit the required information.

I have heard of this law for some time now and Im sure its saved many lives but they are still finding babies dead in dumpsters, etc...They had a case just recently in New Hampshire ( I think) and the mother left the baby in a field and a woman living nearby found the baby alive thank goodness. THis state has this law, but it didnt help the baby any. I dont think they talk enough about it, so that most women know. I believe on the news they said only 2 or 3 states do not have this law. I do think it is a good law though if they would get the word out about it.

We have that in Arizona. I haven't heard good or bad about it. But I do know that if a parent has the baby in the hospital and then abandons it, we have to do all the court stuff to have the baby legally taken away from the mom and dad. Which I don't understand. If the mom pays for her hospital stay, what is the difference if she takes the baby home for one day and returns it to the hospital "no questions asked" or if she decides to leave the baby there at the time, hence abandoning it at the hospital?
I think it is a good idea, they just need to fix the issue of a mother deciding to leave an infant right after birth in the hospital because it takes a lot of time and money to go through the court process to get a legal severance when in reality, she is just excercising the Moses Law.

Such law exists in California as well. I don't know the stats on how it is doing. But we do still hear about new borns being abandoned in garbage bins from time to time. I believe there will always be cases like that, many young pregnant teens just don't know about it.

That law is in Florida and I Praise GOD for that law. It seems to me that every other day you hear of a baby left at a Fire Station or at a hospital. Here in Florida that law works very, very well.

specific!.. I completely agree, life is often greater effective than dying.. i could prefer to additionally see the place there's a regulation handed that people who could prefer to undertake , ought to accomplish that without costs!.. that's ridiculous we are to no longer "purchase" or "sale" babies.. yet, isn't that an element of the approach, and meanwhile the waiting the baby ought to be in a loving domicile.. lawyer's who get hundreds of greenbacks that should be used for the baby/ren ought to be ashamed. I question if some kidnappings is additionally pertaining to to somebody desiring a baby who ought to no longer have the money for to undertake?.. in spite of the undeniable fact that a small element, it could be sickening to renowned that's the reason.. Thank God , somebody finally have been given some experience to do the spectacular concern.. why did we'd desire to make it a regulation to be people? that's unhappy.. yet, finally protects the innocents who weren't able till now.. the youngsters.
