I am gonna be getting a PS2, and I am also planning on trying to find FFVII Dirge of Cerebus (if spelled correctly)... Or I might just get FFVII... Whats the real big differences other than the Characters, The name extension (meaning the thing that says Dirge of Cerebus), And the obvious graphics

FF VII is the original game. Plus it a RPG. Dirge of Cerberus is a continuation of Vincent Valentine's story and how he came to be who he was and its a shooter game. Id recommend you pick up the PS1 FF VII first then buy advent children then rent dirge of Cerberus

Two completly different games...

FFVII is way better in story and is set 3 years before the events of FFVII-Dirge of Cerberus.

Dirge is about one of FFVII's characters: Vincent Valentine. It's his story 3 years after the events of FFVII and kind of his origin story as well. Kinda crappy story though.

I'd say get FFVII if you've never played it and don't mind taking a trip down memory lane in terms of graphics-it's worth it.

According to Wikkipedia, it's a shooter.
