Some companies have more than one class of share, each of which trades at a different value.

From memory, the FTSE100 contains Royal Dutch Shell and HSBC, both companies have 'A' and 'B' shares trading at different values. Therefore they would have to be listed seperately in any list of FTSE100 stocks.
