I've been on birth control for about a year now and I've always taken them correctly. Lately my boyfriend and I have been having alot of unprotected sex, and this morning when i went to use the bathroom there was light spotting like i was about to come on my period. The problem is that i'm not suppose to come on my period for another 2 1/2 weeks. Is there a chance that I could be pregnant or maybe something else is the problem....please help!!!

It is possible. The oral contraceptive pill is pretty good, but not 100% protection.

It might be a case of bleeding in early pregnancy.

However, there are other causes of spotting menstrual blood. (Genital trauma, ovarian cysts, stress etc.)

You should see a doctor right away if you are very concerned, or in pain.

It might be useful to take a home pregnancy test in the first instance. If it is positive, it clarifies issues somewhat. However, if it is negative things are still a bit up in the air. If you have the usual 21-28 day cycle and you are therefore only 1 1/2 wks post your LMP you might be a little early for a urine pregnancy test to detect a pregnancy.

You might like to see a doctor at your next earliest convenience to sort this all out.

If you have been taking them correctly and just recently started having unprotected sex...I think you're fine. Sometimes the pills can cause light spotting. But to be on the safe side go get a pregnancy test and find out. I know it sounds scary, but you'll be fine!

i thinkit could be 1 of 2 things
1. you could just be spotting from having sex, just because its not your first time doesnt mean you cant still bleed or spot and...
2. If you think you maybe pregnant, than it could be the implantation process, which is when the "embryo" implants into your uterus.

I now it seems like a long time, but most pregnancy tests are best read when you are about 2-3 days late.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, there is a strong possibility. If you get away with this this time, try avoiding having unprotected sex during day 13-17 between your period.
Good luck!

if you take it every day on time then you really dont have much to worry about. It is 99.9% effective. So in other words. if you had sex 1000 times, then out of one those times you had unprotected sex you would get pregnant.
