The 7 free days are when you have your period. The way the cycle works is that you ovulate and then about 2 weeks later you have your period. The pills cause you not to ovulate so you take them for 3 weeks then you stop taking them and the hormone level goes down so you will menstruate. You normally don't ovulate while you are having your period. That's why you don't get pregnant on the free days.

If you miss a pill you have untill 12 hours to take it and use protection for 7 days the reason you are covered is because of the components in the pill help protect you for the 7 day break and that is why you cant miss as it really messes it up

I think thats rubbish, it depends on the person. I have missed three days in a row once and it may have been luck, but we got away with it. The twelve hours after to take it is good though.

Take the pill properly & as advised & you wont even need to worry about the repercusions (sorry can not spell that) of you missing that one day! If you are not trying for a baby you should take your birth control seriously to avoid unwanted pregnancy. If you are trying for a baby you wouldn't even be asking questions about birth control? Just use as directed please to avoid any avoidable terminations! x
