They are named after pubs because when the first king of England (Terry the First) had a son he offered it to the people to name. This was quite practical as at the time England had a population of 5.

In recent times however, the population has become too large to decide on a royal name peacefully, and thus the decision was taken to name all newborn royals after the pub in which the child was conceived.
