Would that fix be raising their taxes ? Or maybe you think that it takes liberal judges on the supreme court to feed the hungry ? How about further reductions in the military ? That would put 50 or 60 thousand people back in the job market. Do you think buying off North Korea with money and nuclear reactors will make our home a better place ? You know, like Clinton and Albright did the last time one of the IL family threatened us.

These are the things Ms Pelosi and company have on their list of things to do if and when they ever regain control of any part of our government.

You may want to crack open a history book. There have been jobless and hungry people for ALL of human history. That nations are now reaching a point where most of the jobless and hungry are malcontents and "refuseniks" who won't do anything to help themselves is a fairly large achievement. The western world (US INCLUDED) have more programs and avenues to help people than any society before. But that's not good enough for the historically myopic. One day, we'll reach 100% of everyone and it's a commendable goal but it's not going to happen while everyone stands around assigning blame.

These problems will NEVER go away until the Right wing religious idiot republicans learn to accept the fact that the Dirty hippy loveing lazy dems have the same passion about our country as them. Peace and harmony is a 2 way street and hate never solved a damm thing. Regardless of all the hate propoganda spewed on these bored (I'm guilty as well) The majority of Republicans are not corrupt religious fanatics and all the dems are not pot smoking lazy bastards.

well...depends on point of view.

After all its taken 10 years to fix the problems caused by 40+ years of democratic control and abuse.

Many of the problems talked about in this question, were problems that were initiated by democrats anyway.

If you think we are in trouble now just wait. Taxes will go up, forcing lay offs. That will increase the amount of hungry and start a sick cycle of dependence that we need to get away from.

How long until we take responsibility for the mess the politicians have made? This is a democracy - aren't we supposed to be in charge and take responsibility for fixing things?

Well it only took bush 3 years to plunge us into debt, unemplyment highs, and war, but he is exceptional at failure. i'm thinking it will take about 23.25 years to even make headway in the pile of problems caused.
