my husband, who is not musically inclined, took up guitar at the age of 29 and 3 years later, he is pretty darn good. He takes private lessons one day a week and has lots of fun at it.

I read all of your answers that have been posted, and I would suggest that the spoons are the way for you to go. Cheap, easy and very versatile. Never any power needed, very portable, the best way to go. Good luck
