Maps are ways of expressing geographical information in scaled-down drawings (often in colour). Information is usually spatial (where places are in relation to one another) and may be general (a map of a country showing the chief mountains, towns and rivers, for example) or specific (a "relief map" for how high places are above sea level; a "street map" for the pattern of streets of a town or city; a "political map" showing boundaries of political units such as counties.... etc).

A globe is a representation in accurate, scaled-down form, of the whole Earth. Globes usually show the outlines of continents and such features as major mountains, countries, cities and rivers but only major ones because of the small size. You can take a look at one in your local bookshop.
