A good pirate requires:

1) Bandana = Tie a colourful tea towel round your head
2) Stubble = lightly dip a sponge in some poster paint and dab on
3) A frilly shirt = check out 70's shirts or 80's blouses in a charity shop
4) A cutlass = You could try making one by cutting out the shape from a cereal box and covering it in kitchen foil. Newsagents / local stores sell plastic ones at a pound a pop.
5) black or brown knee length shorts = knee length shorts! pin them so that they are tight beneath the knee for the authentic look. If you dont have any you could try trousers and maybe tuck them into knee length white socks.
6) Black boots/ankle boots/shoes with a silver buckle = erm. charity shop again?

Good luck!! And have a spooOOooky halloween!

Go to a thrift shop. Decide what you want your costume to look like and see what you can come up with. A peasant blouse and a short dark skirt with a long red sash would be acceptable. Cut the bottom of the skirt to make it look realistic and get a sword and hat at a party store.

Be sure the clothes you buy are washable and take them home, give them a good laundering in hot water and start to build your costume.

You may find an over the top bridesmaid dress for a few dollars that would make a great fairy princess costume. Just get a crown from burger king, cover with aluminum foil and you're good to go. Happy hunting and have a great time.

Go through all your clothes and see which ones you really do wear and don't wear. Take all the clothes you're willing to throw away and get creative that way. Or go to a thrift store and look at their clothing and do the same thing. Do you have a sewing machine or even just a needle and thread? Good Luck!

I'd go to a thrift store or even in your closet for some pieces. Also you can go to walmart or any arts and crafts store to make a top.
