"Punks not dead, it just needs to die" - Dead Kennedys
There are not very many real punks these days. There are too many "screamo" or "emo" or whatever else whiny crap they call punk these days. No one is snotty and pissed the way they used to be. Now the real punks don't call themselves punks, they just have the state of mind.

Punk has evolved It started out as a underground unpopular genre of music. Then the Sex Pistols and The Ramones and bands like that brought it into the populare scene. From about 1990 to the present it has evolved so much that it is now classed as pop - punk and is more rock than anything. Bands like Green Day, The Offspring and that lot are the remains of popular punk. So absically punk isnt dead, it is just in undergorund clubs and what is popular, is not "full" punk.

Neither. Its become popular, which is the exact contradiction of what punk stands for. So basically its just that the definition of punk is somewhat blurred at the moment, but its not dead or hiding. And im sure glad it isnt.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day. =)

While we all know there will never be another band like the Ramones, Circle Jerks, The Germs, or even the Sex Pistols...punk is very much alive.

not dead, but Jello said "punks not dead, it just deserves to die when it becomes another stale cartoon." There is real punk out there.
