My husband and I hope to renew our vows on Halloween some time. (We could afford a wedding, so we just did the court house thing.)
I would go all out with the costumes and so forth. Maybe the female attendants would be dark faeries, and the male attendants can wear horns! I'd definitely wear red and black, and we'd have read and black flowers. I would have one of my Wiccan friends lead the service, but of course request that she is in full Witch regalia! I'd want my guests to dress up in costumes as well, and then we'd have a big dance and supper afterwords.
I'm also part of a belly dance troupe, so I would request the other dancers to perform at the reception in their Goth costumes!

A cousin of mine got married a couple days before Halloween several years ago. They didn't want an over the top Halloween theme, but they did do a couple things that were unique. The bride's dress was in two parts. The actual dress had a short skirt so it would be easy to dance in. There was a separate long skirt that went over the dress for the ceremony. Before she walked into the reception, she removed the long skirt and she was wearing spiderweb tights. The cake topper was a witch and Frankenstein. They had orange and black balloons around the room as decorations as well as little Halloween centerpieces on each of the tables. They had the DJ play a couple appropriate songs, like the Monster Mash. And at one point, the best man brought out a lifesize blowup Frankenstein with glowing red eyes that everyone passed around and danced with.
The ceremony was rather traditional. The reception was filled with all these little tributes to Halloween. I thought it was one of the best weddings I'd ever been to! =)

I love the idea! Halloween is my favorite holiday. Bride and groom need only dress as bride and groom and guests in costume. Fall decorations and lots of pumkins and candy. Everyone will remember your anniversary! It needs not to be spooky or cheesy, but it can be. You can select elements of the holiday that you like and leave out others. It can be classy and fun at the same time. Definately at night though. October is a beautiful time of year and a wedding would have a great feel to it at this time.... The smells and sounds and changing of the weather as well as the opening of the holiday season.
I would have lots of lighting by candle and invite kids too. At a certain time, let the kids trick or treat at the different tables and maybe have a costume contest judged by the wedding party. A little bit of Halloween can enhance, rather than distact from the celebration.
Very fun idea! Thanx for entertaining question.

Absolutely! But then again, I'm one of the 'scary people', so every day is Halloween for me.
I'd go with black as the base color. Elegant any day in my opinion. Guests in costume, bride and groom in basic black. Black and red and black and purple roses on each table, Halloween themed decorations (spiders, bats, skulls, etc), scary looking food and a sheet cake decorated like a graveyard rather than the traditional tiered cake.
If I put more thought into it, I could come up with a lot more, I'm sure.

No. It usually does not land on Saturday. If it landed on Saturday, sure why not.
I know someone who got married on Halloween by the way. She's wiccan.
Not Myself:
By the way, Halloween is only wicked and occult for those who follow wicked and occult religions. It's an ordinary day for Christians. So, don't get your panties in a bunch.

Yes! That would be so cool! I'm not sure how I would plan it though. I do know that I would have a ton of Halloween candles, decorations, I'd probably use some temporary hair color, wear a costume instead of a dress.

Yes, and as a matter of fact I did get marrried on Halloween. Everyone including the minister was in full costum. It was the best and the fastest wedding I had ever been to.
We had a candy girl (Mulan) instead of a flower girl. (she gave candy to a few people as she walked down the aisle.
My ring bearer (Harry Potter) carried our rings in a small plastic coffin.
My husband was dressed as Elvis Presley and I was Priscilla. I walked down the aisle to"Jail House Rock" and I was given away by Raggedy Andy. (My dad.)
My bridesmaid was Raggedy Ann. (Mom)
The best man was Red-Neck Hillbilly.
The minister was Laurence of Arabia.
Our wedding cake was a spice cake instead of traditional white and it was a jackolantern.
There was a smoking cauldren with green slime. (punch)
Then on our wedding night we went to the recreated "Munster Mantion" in my hometown.
It was the most exciting wedding I could think of!

Absolutely! If it were to land on a Friday or Saturday night. (Which won't happen until 2008 and 2009.) Speaking of which, who would get married on Friday the 13th in October? (That won't happen again until 2017!)

I would plan it like a costume party, I so enjoy costuming. I would have to spend alot of time on the thought of what the bride and groom would be costumed as. Wonderful question it has flooded my brain with ideas, thank you.
