Be careful, most Jamaicans want to leave the island and marry a UK citizen. Generally people are genuine but you will get some people who will see you as a meal ticket or a way of bringing economic or financial benefits to themselves and their families.

HI there. I'm from usa and have friends in jamaica. My suggestion would be to travel there on a regular basis and form friendships that will last for years. That's what my husband and I did and now we stay in touch with them through out the year until its time for our vacation and them we all meet up for some partying and dinner. Those friends have shown us the real jamaica and we love it. The tourist board would probably advise against it but we are now ja-americans (almost locals)
