brian did almost all of it. he could layer so many parts it was amazing. some parts had to be tracked for concerts. at the freddie mercury tribute concert, brian had to sing a lot as well. his solution? he got black sabbaths tony iommi(thats right!) to come help out. to see those two guys interplay was beyond cool

Freddie Mercury played acoustic guitar on This Thing Called Love; however, Brian May was the guitar player for the band. John Deacon played bass, Roger Taylor played drums... that's the whole story.

Brian May was the main guitarist, and almost always the only one. In some live shows Freddie Mercury also played, but rythm on acoustic. Brian May also played piano, keyboards, banjo, ukele, mandolin, and harmonica. Maybe John Deacon could also play guitar, he never did it live.

brian may did most of the guitar for queen, murcury might have done some guitar, but the only instruments i recall him playing is piano and the skin flute

They were music school grads I believe, so it's likely they all could've 'dabbled' at many instruments - but Brian was the key guitarist as indicated in answer above.

solos!! he rocks!!!
