It is not about being a bully. The US was the policeman of the world before 9/11 because nobody wanted the job and the world was in chaos. They blame the US for doing nothing and yet blame the US for doing anything. As the policeman of the world, it was not just about 9/11, it was about the ability of the US to maintain an order in the world anymore. The US has lost that ability because of 9/11 bringing a new type of war and part of the world is still blaming America because they couldn't keep being the policeman. Another part of the world is blaming America for being the policeman for so many years.
America still wants to play a role in maintaining world order as the world searches for a new peacekeeping method. That is why US participate in UN and peaceful multi-party talks. The US realizes they can't do it alone anymore. In the meantime, people will still deride American aims, motives, and methods. The US will go down in history like Rome after the Pax Romana. Pax Americana is over and the US is just trying to cope.
The US hopes they can continue to change the future for the better. People will continue to blame them for centuries for their problems because the US was trying to change the world. The US will eventually learn that the evils they fought can not be forcefully changed and destroyed. The people must be left to change themselves and suffer until they do. Only through suffering and isolation can people realize their ways are wrong and they brought the suffering upon themselves. Only then will the people willingly change and peace be willingly brought to the world. The US' humanitarian policy was the greatest mistake in history. They can't help those who don't want to be helped.

Yeah the US is a school yard bully.
Imagine a bully that:
Disagrees with a dictator who fills mass graves outside of it's major city.
Disagrees with a dictator who tortures his national soccer team because they didn't win gold.
Disagrees with a dictator who is developing Nuclear Power solely to have nuclear weapons and has no interest in using it for power or other beneficial purposes.
Imagine a Bully that asks the UN to uphold it's own rulings and then does it for them when they refuse.
Imagine a Bully that feeds the hungry, provides medicine for the sick, and shelter for the poor.
Imagine a Bully that has an open door policy that allows anyone to come in, own property, and since they aren't citizens get free health care.

USA is the schoolyard bully and all other nations try to avoid contact if at all possible. So the bully got ******-punched on 9/11 and got a bloody nose from that but he should get over it already. Trouble is he won't be satisfied until he beats up every other kid in the yard. There is no other way to look at it!

I would like to see us be more forceful certain nations do not respect negotiations they look at it as weakness, like in the middle east if you remember your recent history that wimp Carter negotiated over 400 days with the Iranians with nothing getting resolve as soon as Reagan was being inaugurated they released them because they new this President would not take any crap.

America has to remember only one thing - those who live by the sword will . . . .. . they fed Taliban with stinger missiles and dollars and now happily spills young American blood. because of them Iraqis dies in scores today... so naturally tomorrow America will pay with the same flourish. 'Nam they got out cheaper but these Arabs are too smart for that. the fat headed bully will keep on hitting the mirrors till he realise that he is the one shown in each of them
