The rule of thumb is that if your symptoms are above your neck you can exercise and it might help. If they are below (chest congestion) you should take it easy until they clear up.

No. You need to give your body time to recover. You could end up making yourself sicker. Plus, when exercising, people tend to breath heavier. You don't want to spread your cold to other people do you? I once went running with a friend. I noticed she was lagging a bit. Half way through the run she mentioned she had a cold. I was a bit upset with her.

The best thing you can do for your body is take some time off from you exercise routine. Be sure and drink a lot of water to flush the bug out of your body. Once you've recovered, then have a good time exercising.

Personally I don't think it's wise to exercise when you have a cold. Your body is already stressed and trying to fight off an infection so by exercising you're givng it more work to do and you will end up prolonging your cold. I am an ME/CFS sufferer and this illness is to do with a stressed immune system that no longer functions properly. Not saying this will happen to you but it's important to take on board that exercise on top of illness is not good. You feel poorly because you body needs you to rest so it can get on with fighting the virus.

Yes, ABSOLUTELY! Try and work up a good sweat because that helps get all the **** out of you. But I would do this indoors instead of out as far as the exercise/sweating thing goes. Otherwise, you might get even sicker. And later after you have had a nice shower, a nap, and a hot cup of tea....go outside for a short walk. Feel Better!!!

I think if you can do it...then why not...I have exercised with a cold before and it helped me to sweat the cold out and I got over the cold quicker...exercise does help the immune system :)...I say go for it...even if it's just a light cardio workout...:) Do some crunches for me will ya ;)

It depends on how sick you are, listen to your body. When I'm sick with cold most of the time I do a light workout, drink LOTS of water. My normal workout is 1hr, but when I have a cold it can be as little as 5 or 10 minuets, and if I feel really bad, I get myself a cup of tea and a good book, snuggle into a blanket and take it easy.

Generally fitness experts say you should not exercise when you have a cold, your immune system is run down and needs a chance to recover. If you are unfit you also stand a good chance of having a heart attack.

I would either drink alot of orange juice or buy some Vitamin C tablets and take about 1000mg everyday till my cold went away.

There should be no problem if psychologically it does not seem an irritant. Also, cold can be aggravated if the perspiration and sudden change in body temperature is not taken care of.
