Sightings don't count. I haven't met that many famous people. When I was younger, I met Candace Cameron from Full House but that's lame. Roger Ebert is my neighbor and a bunch of newscasters but that's lame too!

When I was a young 20 year old Marine, I was on a flight from LA to Chicago. When I got on the plane, I noticed and thought to myself...boy, this plane is filled with old folks! Almost everyone was asleep...blankets over them, etc. Sat down next to a fellow....after a while he woke...we chatted for a bit and he asked me a bunch of questions about the Corps. I answered what little I could given I hadn't been in for more than 9 mos at the time. I asked him what he was doing...he said he and his friends were going to a conference in Chicago....they get together every now and then to rehash old times. I thought nothing more of it, and we talked about LA...other items.

When we arrived in Chicago, we got off the plane.
I stood there...dumbfounded...when I saw the large banner welcoming the guys on the plane:

"WELCOME CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR SOCIETY"

I was on a plane full of medal of honor recipients.
What an idiot....I could have learned much....if I had only inquired.

I met Maury Povich because I was a guest on his show about 12 years ago. He's very nice and down to earth. The producer gave me a limo tour of NYC and a $50.00 voucher to use at a nice place to eat. I was put up in the Paramount Hotel with all the extras. I also had a limo pick me up at my home , take me to the airport, and then to the hotel and the show then the next day, back to the airport. I never spent a dime, all my needs were met. Nice people on that show. Maury even called me when I returned home and told me a taping of the show would arrive by messenger. Really a nice experience.

The only 'famous' (I use the term loosely) person I've met is Richie Kavanagh. He's someone from the town I live that has had a couple of unfunny novelty songs.
This will explain who he is - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richie_Kavanagh
I did, however, see Bob Dylan and The Flaming Lips live. I didn't meet them, however Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips walked across the audience in a bubble thing.

In the early 70's, just out of high school, I lived in Palm Springs and worked at a Chevron gas station just outside of the PS airport. One Sunday morning a guy pulls up in a beat up old truck with a dirt bike in the back. I knew who it was but didn't bug him. Just helped fill his truck and jerry cans, talked about riding dirt bikes in the Palm Springs desert. Finely we were done and he said "do you know who I am"? I said yes, you’re Steve McQueen. He said “you didn’t bug me about who I was, you just wanted to talk dirt bikes”. He asked if I had my bike with me, I said yes. He pointed into the foothills, said he would be out there for a few hours and if I could get away from work, I should come join him and a few friends. Needless to say, I locked the place up and went riding with him (lost my job because I left). Exceptional person. I also got to meet the guy (Bud Ekins) who did the actual motorcycle jump in the Great Escape and the short motorcycle shot in Bullit (where the bike goes down in the dirt to avoid being hit). Anyway, true story.

Mark Wahlberg- ok this is lame but I was sitting on gate waiting to get in to a KNOTB consert. When this guy came and sat by me. We started talking and her told me who he was. He then gave me an autograph. Shortly after that everyone surrounded us and I got pushed out of the way by a bunch of girls.
