Why is the goverment so corrupt?

which government? if you mean the US government, it is so corrupt because we, as American citizens, allow it to be corrupt. We continually send the same people back to Washington year after year and wonder why it is so corrupt. Corruption is easy when there's no oversight from the electorate.

Because we, like lambs to the slaughter, just follow on one behind the other, bleating like hell as we go, but doing nothing to bring corrupt people heel. We are so wound up in our own lives we don't have the time to deal with a problem like this so we ignore it and hope it goes away. But, one thing is certain, corruption, unless we do stand up and say enough is enough, will be were to stay.

I'm not sure which government you mean specifically , but as you've asked this question on Yahoo's UK & Ireland site, I will assume you mean the British government, although the answer to this probably covers most governments, which is bsaically that a government often needs to be corrupt in order to fool the general public in order to achieve their personal agendas without hinderance of laws and morals, and also to protect themselves from future defeat.

Politicians are official tugs, Mafiosos, they want their interests to be fulfilled first that is the reason why they are so corrupted, all over the world. the level is different because the impact on policy is different it can be 1 million dollars or a real Picasso but they are al corrupted.

because governments consists of people.

and people, while maybe having high or at least stable moral standards, have a hard time to resist opportunities for self enrichment on the scale as being a high class poloitician offers. it starts with small things, with favors accepted by political friends... being introduced to important people... making powerful frinds and supporters... it is the only way to rise in ranks for a politician in these days... and by the time you are actually in a position to make decisions of your own, you are already so entangled in various factions, lobbies and personal IOUs, that you will find that you have only very little room left for the things you wanted to do when you started out.

so, the problem is dual really... on one hand the system as a whole, as it developed over centuries, and on the other side the very human desire to provide for hard times... they both play hand in hand in corrupting even the best meaning people, OR in case they are truly uncorruptable, effectively keeping them away from positions of power.

I have a 180 gallon tank ( yes180 gallons). My fish have names like Pumpkin( a bloody parrot) Emmit and Bubba(placos) Alberto, Fanny, Tiny, Tini, Sampson, Ralph( all African cichlids) Kremit the frog (not Kermit) and Liam(this name I think is cursed because every fish I've had named Liam has died). The list goes on and on. I like to give them funny names. Tini and Tiny are the biggest fish I have and pumpkin looks like a pumpkin. I have named them after my boyfriend and famous people as well. I thinks it is the most funny to give them human names like Fred or the like. Just have fun with it. Let me know if you hear any more good ones because i have plenty of fish!! I like Pamela for the Tiger Barb and Dahlia for the Black Skirt Tetra.

They are the government, as soon as they get into power, they become the government, and governments are always corrupt. Politicians may not be (although I reckon most of them are anyway) but once they become the "government" they are lost to morals, ethics and decent public speaking.

The government is so corrupt because they are not punished for being corrupt and are rewarded by Big Business to make laws to cater to Big Business at the taxpayers expense!

Can someone tell me. Where does it stop? The American government allows illegal aliens to enter into this country to do back breaking work for slave wages. Then the illegal alien takes advantage of every social, medical and education program available and breaking law all the way.

It’s a degradation and a travesty for our government to illegally lower their standard of fairness and create confusing tactics to allow, illegal aliens who break the law and illegally enter America to be rewarded with jobs and citizenship at the tax payers expense (U&ME).

Politicians are being picked up in corporate jets to discuss with Big Business the need for cheap labor and to keep the boarders flood gates open . Big Business has convinced American politicians to look the other way and disregard the law when it comes to illegal aliens and Boarder Control.

We need to crackdown on illegal aliens in the United States. Politicians are calling for cheap labor for low paying jobs that Americans won’t do. The corruption of the leadership of both Democrat and Republican parties is mind boggling. Pay fair wages and American will do the Jobs!

Why is it OK for some to break the law but not others? What if Americans decided at the same time to stop paying taxes? Who will foot the bill for the cheap labor that’s beneficial for Big Business?

Who will pay for the medical to birth the anchor babies and feed, cloth and house them and their parents? Who will educate them and pay for the cost of translating everything from welfare forms to translators at the local phone and power company and driver licence test books for them?

While the government is cutting funds for the education system. Extra unwanted illegal students are flooding the schools demanding special attention bi-lingual teachers and special funding for an already strained budgets. Even with all efforts at a expensive cost, 50% of the immigrants will drop out of high school and become unwed Welfare mothers, dead beat dads, drug dealers and criminals.

An argument is that illegal aliens pay taxes. Yes, they do but it a pittance compared to the cost that American tax payers are shelling out to support them and all the programs they are using.

When the government allocates funds to each programs, schools, medicare, public assistance, prison systems they are not counting in the factor of the illegal aliens who will be using the funds .

For example 1/3 of all people in the prisons are illegal aliens. When it comes time to release these criminals. Our government has been known to releases theses illegal alien criminals out into American society. The cost of housing a criminal is about $50,000. Per year, per person.

Our government now is proposing a bill that would allow 11 to 12 million illegal immigrants to stay in America AND to gain citizenship in 11 years. What will happen when they start collecting social security? According to the governments standard of fairness they will take from the rich (U&ME) and give to the illegal aliens, and of course the government will exclude the VERY rich.

Why don’t we just send buses to Mexico and pick them up, give them houses, medical care, educations, citizenship, give them a tax break too, while we are giving them the keys to the country.
Just ask yourself what will happen when they are 51% of the vote, will they be as kind???
