Your partner having an affair

or

your partner hiring a prostitute or gigilo?

Could you forgive one, both or neither

Interesting...because it usually seems that the hurt of betrayal is often in the emotional attachment that comes with the creation ofan affair rather than something 'purchased off the shelf'

Having an affair, because that is emotional and not just sex.
And I dont know if I could forgive either.

The former.

That's not to say that the latter would in any way come as a relief, or that I'd buy into that lame argument "but it's just sex!"

I'd still be hunting for the scissors. But the former would definitely be more personal, and thus more hurtful.

I forgot to answer the forgiveness part. I don't know the answer. It's not something I worry about, although I have the occasional dream where my husband is messing around. Since it's just a dream, I never get past the hurt/betrayed part, so I can't even say what my subconscious would do. I don't want to imagine this happening, so I won't go there.

I have been cheated on by former boyfriends. In both cases, I ended up forgiving. I guess....I think it was more a case of ignoring.

An affair because more than likely they know the person and see them or talk to the all the time, and it has emotions involved. Yet with a prostitute it is a one time thing they don't see each other often and they don't work together, and it is just sex no feelings involved.

I could not forgive either one...

I'd be considerably more upset by the affair (assuming we'd agreed to a monogamous relationship), because of the betrayal aspect. Not of the sexuality----bumping bodies with someone else is really not that big an issue, ALTHOUGH one must be cautious enough to use contraception and safer-sex precautions)---but the "you started getting emotionally involved and didn't even give me a heads-up that something was wrong?"

I would say having an affair would be worse. The prostitute is just physical, and doesn't necessarily mean anything. But an affair entails a certain emotional committment that would be very upsetting.

Isn't it the same thing? If your partner hires a prostitute or gigolo, they will be having sex with that person.. Therefore, that will be having an affair, so they are both equally the same to me.

All of them are bad especially if you are married. If you are married you need to discuss it and decide if you can make things better or get a divorce. If you are single find - someone else. Forgive - that depends on the outcome!

Both are unforgivable to me. I guess the affair is worse because there could be love involved.

prostitute or gigilo.............no offence to anyone who's in this line
of "work" bt it's more hurtful knowing that they've paid for "it"

besides cheating is just as bad

I guess you could forgive him if he had a prozzie because there is no emotional attachment there, But i would feel pretty shitty if he developed proper feelings for someone else.
