I'm sadened by the answers already given *sigh*. There is two possibilities that I can think of.
First possibility: You have several programs installed that are 'Real Time Scanners". For example, lets say you have 5 AntiVirus scanners installed and lets lable them 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Each of the 5 have a "Real Time Scan". Program 1 scans a file, then programs 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be scanning 1 along with any other files being scanned. This will end up eating a lot of your memory.
Second possibility: You may have a serious infection on your computer.
You should first boot your computer in safe mode. To boot from safe mode, press the F8 key after you turn the power on, you have less then a second or two to press the F8 key. When a screen gives you several choices, boot your computer "Safe Mode with Networking" so you can get onto the Internet in safe mode. *NOTE* It is possible that you can not connect to the Internet in safe mode but try. From what you wrote, it sounded like you would end up having trouble downloading several programs I'm gonna tell you about. If you can not use the Internet in safe mode, then boot normally and download the programs one by one, gives you a better chance of making sure you do get them downloaded and updated.
You didn't mention what programs you have for Antivirus, adware, spyware cleaners so I'll just list a few you should really get. You have a very high chance of Adware and Spyware or a Trojan based infection on your computer so make sure you get these programs I list, make sure you do update them, and make sure you configure each program so it will scan everything, and make sure you do all the full scans in safe mode. (Not 'safe mode with networking' make sure it is just 'safe mode')
1) www.lavasoft.com and get Adware Personal Edition as it is free. Update it after installing. Configure settings.
2) www.ewido.com and get the Anti-Spyware, it is a 30 day trial. Update this after installing. Configure settings.
3) www.filseclab.com and get Twister AntiTrojanVirus, update it after installing, configure settings.
4) www.download.com and search for ccleaner. You'll want this as it will remove unwanted and unneeded files off oyur computer. Saves a bit of time in using 'Full Scan'.
5) Make sure whatever else programs you already have are updated and configured so it will scan everything on your computer.
The first thing you should do is download/install ccleaner before anything else, configure it, then run the program. Do it several times, it will not harm your computer in anyway. After you scan several times, ccleaner will not find anything. This is your que to reboot your computer. Reboot into safe mode with networking or normally, into the one you can connect to the Internet.
After rebooting, install the rest of the programs and update them. You can configure the settings for each program, do so, make sure it will scan every file on your computer. After you have completely and fully updated all programs along with the ones you may already have, reboot your computer again but this time, reboot into safe mode. (Not 'safe mode with networking' make sure it is just 'safe mode') *NOTE* if you are having trouble with your cpu, configure your programs to STOP Real Time Protection. Turn off and exit/close all your programs that are running. ctrl+alt+del and force close those programs. This may also help in downloading and updating your programs.
After rebooting, you should have all programs installed and they should all be fully updated and you are in safe mode. The first thing you should do in safe mode is to open/run ccleaner and scan several times until nothing is found.
The rest is up to you, to take your time in doing a full scan with each program you have. It is best to scan using one program at a time and not two or three at a time. If you do choose to run two at a time, make sure "Real time protection' is off.
Good luck.

You may be infected with a virus, which the software you are using is not detecting or removing properly. With the high volume of viruses, worms, and other problems out there today, it is really worth the investment to get a good virus scan and removal program like McAfee or Norton.
Remember, you get what you pay for -- so what do you expect for nothing? ;~)

Well I'd say the problem is a nice little virus hiding in your registry. And is probably a self-installing bug that has attached itself to another program.
Do a search on those items and visit the microsoft website....it will give you directions to remove them from the registry.

Check what is using up your space.
Hit CTRL->ALT->DEL and have the task manager come up, then click on the tab that says CPU, and see which one is killing your processor.
Then go to google or yahoo, and lookup the .exe that is causing the problems. If it's something that is adware/spyware related try killing it and if you can't take it in somewhere and have them do it.

Delete photos...that is a main problem for people. Burn them or put them on a sick, or print them, just get them off your computer.
