Wide screen. That's how the film maker created the film, that's how we should see it.
When you see full screen, you are getting a cut off version of the film. Watch a movie like Lawrence of Arabia in full screen & then wide screen. You would be AMAZED at how much is taken out of the movie.
Or Ben Hur. Same thing, half the screen is cut out & seeing the chariot race wide screen is quite different than full screen.
I wish more directors would do as Spielburg did with Color Purple. He would not allow it to be done in full screen, only wide screen. Great idea IMHO

Definitely wide screen. Those pan and scan movies cut out a lot of the picture! And sometimes it's important stuff! You know they're even starting to show television programs in wide screen? Smallville is one example I can think of, off hand.
I say go for it.

Wide screen because you see everything that was intended for you to see. It can really change the context of some scenes in a movie when they are panned & scanned.

I never understood the purpose of wide screen. I hate to be staring at two black horizontal lines the entire time. I prefer full screen.

Definitely widescreen. I want to see the movie as it was made to be seen. Do I want to listen to music with some of the instruments taken away, or read a book with the first and last words of each line cut off?

wide screen is a rip off. I hate the fact that full screen is hard to find these days. Who would want half of the screen gone? Why buy a big t.v. and then buy wide screen dvd's that cut it down in size! Man this a big pet peeve of mine! FULL SCREEN PLEASE!!

Your problem is with the programming supplier, not the TV. You have to realize that they have to accommodate both 4:3 and 16:9 viewers, and one will lose if they try to serve the other.
