This is going to be a little complicated.

Your access point can be encrypted in WEP or WPA passcode. Avoid broadcasting your Wi-Fi point to the public. Change your SSID.

You're almost safe from people jumping into your access point.

If you are using a more advance Wi-Fi point, encrypt your Wi-Fi point with WPA2. WEP and WPA can be easily cracked.

Good luck.

In oyur ROUTERS configuration screen, there should be aplace to set a WEP key. This can be a mixture of numbers and letters.
Set a WEP key then reconnect to the internet. You will have to enter you WEP key to connect, but you can save the key so you do not have to enter it again. NO ONE will be able to hack your Wireless connection unless they can find out your WEP key which is encrytped.
